susansmith112020wFor many years I have been a quilter, as I enjoy playing with fabrics. Then several years ago I discovered needle felting, so now I play with wool. The ethereal nature of needle-felted objects appeals to me. Wool texture is determined by the type of sheep it comes from. The wool I work with comes from small farms in the British Isles, Canada or the US. Each farm washes, combs and either markets the wool in its natural color or dyes the wool using their own color palette. “Curls” which I use for hair or ornamentation is wool which has not been combed.

Since the arrival of the coronavirus I have returned to my stash of cotton fabrics to make masks.
