We are two friends from beautiful Carrboro, NC, a place where we get inspired daily and find most of our materials, too.
In 2003 we met by chance and soon discovered our shared love of recycling found objects and obsession with color. Neither one of us had any formal art training but had always created from the heart. We decided that doing it together would be more fun, bought a saw, cut some fish out of found wood and painted them in the wildest color combinations we could think of. Feedback was positive and that was all we needed to dive in. Birds, snakes and hearts followed the fish and more tools joined the saw. We actually learned how to weld and plasma cut to make our own metal parts like eyes, wings and fins.
From the beginning we only used salvaged and recycled wood, metal and paint because it is so satisfying to turn discarded “trash” into something fun and joyful!
We love what we do and hope that it shows in our work. To see people look at our creations and smile just makes our day!
