annawilkins1Anna’s involvement with art began early. Her father was her first art teacher and she learned techniques and use of materials from him when she was a child. He told her that earning a living in art was very difficult so, on his advice, she graduated from Brenau University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

But she minored in Art and continues to paint for her own enjoyment. Her love of art led her to study porcelain painting at the Dunwoody Arts Center and she continues to paint tiles, sinks and porcelain ornaments.

She developed her distinctive impressionist style in oils after her move to Helen. Watching the transformation of Helen into an Alpine Village and the theatrical influence of this era -- whichinvolved the “Sound of Music and the “Helen to the Atlantic” balloon race -- had an impact on her painting. She is noted for her distinctive depictions of the area’s unique landmarks, such as the Nacoochee valley gazebo and its residentGuernsey cows, one of her favorite themes.

Anna became a member of the Helen Arts & Heritage Center in 2010 and studied there under Judy Bynum George. Her painting “Yonah” took firstplace in a juried show @ the Helen Arts & Heritage Center in the oils andacrylics category.
